English Phrasal Verbs UNIT-3

25. (be) above = not liable to do (something bad)
(မဟုတ္တာ၊ မေကာင္းတာလုပ္တက္သည့္ အက်င့္မရွိ)
He is above stealing.

26. (be) after = want (လိုခ်င္သည္)
He is after promotion.

27. (be) along = arrive; appear (လာသည္၊ ေပၚလာသည္)
I'm sure a bus will be along soon.

28. (be) at = 1. nag (ပူညံပူညံလုပ္သည္)
His wife is always at him.
2. be doing (လုပ္ေနသည္)
What are the children at?

29. (be) back = return (ျပန္လာသည္)
Mother has gone to the market. She'll be back soon.

30. (be) behind = 1. be late in doing something.
(တစ္ခုခုလုပ္ရန္ေနာက္က်သည္)
They are always behind with their house rent.
2. be slow or not too clever.
(သူမ်ားထက္ေႏွးသည္၊ သို႔ မဟုတ္ ဖ်င္းသည္)
She's behind the other students in her class.

31. (be) beneath = undignified (မသင့္ေတာ္သည္)
ံHe is poor but the thinks it's beneath him to beg.

32. (be)by = come near, pass by (အနားကပ္လာသည္၊ ျဖတ္သြားသည္)
Wait here. The teacher will be by in a moment.

33. (be)down on = hate or dislike (မႏွစ္သက္၊ မုန္းသည္)
She's down on him for speaking to her so rudely.

34. (be)for = be in favour of (ႀကိဳက္သည္၊ သေဘာတူသည္)
I'm for your suggestion.

35. (be)for = be due for a trouble or scolding. (ဒုကေရာက္လိမ့္မည္၊ အဆူခံရမည္)
You'll be for it if the teacher catches you smoking.

36. (be)in = 1. be at home or at one's office, etc.
(အိမ္မွာ၊ သို႔မဟုတ္ ရံုးမွာ ရွိသည္)
Is your father in?
2. come in; arrive. (ေရာက္လာသည္)
The train will be in any moment now.
